Chickasha Church to Close July 31st

ree

An Administrative Commission has begun work with the Session of First Presbyterian Church of Chickasha to dissolve the congregation and close the church, effective July 31. A closing worship service is being planned on July 13.

The First Presbyterian Church of Chickasha traces its beginnings to June 1892, when the Rev. C.H. Miller of El Reno came to Chickasha, organized a temporary board of Trustees, and presided at the election of an Elder. Services were initially held in a tent until a permanent structure, the first church in Chickasha, was completed in November 1892. The first service and formal acceptance of the organization of the First Presbyterian Church was held on December 25, 1892. The current building was completed in 1922.
